Gallery Restaurant & Bar

It’s disappointing to see how The Gallery has changed over the years, and unfortunately not for the better. For years, I made it a point to stop here for the incredible Halibut Fish & Chips — as it easily was the best inland fish fry I had ever experienced in Oregon. This was my first return visit in several years. To my surprise Halibut Fish & Chips are no longer on the menu. The server told me halibut prices have risen too high since the pandemic and that forced them to take it off the menu. I ordered a spicy shrimp Po Boy sandwich with fries. It was OK, but not great. We also ordered a shrimp basket and ended up only eating a few of the shrimp; the breading was too thick, in our opinion. What we received was definitely bar food. The service was OK. As for atmosphere, the whole place has gone through a major renovation to become an open floor plan sports bar with some seating. It’s a big change from the prior design that had a restaurant that offered plenty of seating — with a full wall that separated the bar from everything. It has a very different vibe now. Our booth felt quite cramped. I’m not trying to bash The Gallery with this review — and can appreciate how things sometimes need to change over time. I’m hoping the management might reconsider bringing an old favorite back to the menu.

Holy smokes!!! Our server BRANDY was very welcoming, and amazing. My boyfriend got the chicken fried steak, and I got the biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon. Both amazing! The chicken fried steak was the best I’ve ever had in my life!!!!! Tastes like everything is made from scratch. It’s my birthday and normally I drive all the way to Bend for the “Best breakfast.” Not anymore. This is delicious!

Our server Rob, was SUPER cool. SO personable, funny, friendly, attentive & helpful. Rob brought me one french fry right out of the fryer, for me to taste, before I ordered, because I asked him how the fries are. How cute is that?My dining partner had the Philly Steak Sandwich & fries. He liked it a lot, but he said he would have preferred to have Provolone Cheese on it instead of American. I ordered Mayor Mike's Club with Tater Tots. My giant Sandwich, could have easily fed 2 people. I mean, I had to gnaw my way through this sandwich, literally. I couldn't open my mouth wide enough, to take a regular bite. It wasn't because of the sourdough bread either! You could get it made with the bread of your choosing, btw. So much shaved ham, an abundance of thinly sliced Turkey & that smoked Bacon, WOW. Thick, juicy, cooked so nicely. Shredded Lettuce & Sliced fresh Tomatoes, along with both Swiss & Cheddar cheese, made this Club Sandwich the best crafted Club, I have ever had. Tots were crispy & not salted, like too many places do, they coat them in salt, yuck. Rob told us that this place has the best Halibut Fish & Chips of anywhere in Oregon, he said, including the Coast. So with that said, we shall drive over here again, just to try the Halibut & to see Rob!
